Non Executive Director and CEO
Melika (Mel, 57, British) is an experienced financial sector executive with 24 years of experience with the HSBC Group in senior leadership roles, including as CEO in Jordan, Bahrain and Oman. Mel is also a UK qualified lawyer and was Regional Head of Legal & Compliance for the HSBC Group for four years when she first moved to the Middle East, establishing a strong track for risk management before moving to become a front-line banker from 2011. Prior to joining the HSBC Group, Mel was a lawyer in private practice in London for 10 years.
During her last 17 years spent in the Middle East, Mel has successfully led business growth and implemented complex strategic projects (including multiple M&A transactions) during a time of unprecedented regional transformation and against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
Mel has sat on banking industry association, trade association and not for profit boards as a non-executive director. Throughout her career, she has also been accountable to Boards and Board Committees, as well as chairing governance meetings. Mel is now looking to apply her unique combination of strong business commerciality, strategic thinking, governance and risk management to a portfolio career as a non-executive director and in senior advisor roles, splitting her time between the UK and Middle East.
