Phil Bird MSc
Director of Flight Operations
I am a Board, Council and Trustee Member, a Director of Flight Operations and Airline Pilot with over two decades of board level experience with particular expertise in both airline and defence management.
At board level, I drive operational success. I do this by leveraging a blend of experience and expertise, commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellence and through my passion for leadership.
Board level highlights include: Council Member at Fairford Town Council, Member Board of Trustees of the London City Airport Community Fund, Leading Edge Panel Member at Air League Educational Trust, Committee Chairman of theUK MOD’s British American Committee, a UK Government organisation.
Executive Experience:
A seasoned airline executive looking to make the move to board level. I am trying to target commerical aviation boards - airlines, airports, NATS, potentially fuel providers such as Shell and BP ( in my exec role at BA I led the transition to synthetic aviation fuel.). I have over 22 years of flying experince as an RAF Fighter Pilot and Senior Leader (17 years) and 5 years an a commercial airline pilot and now airline executive (exec level at 3 airlines,) My passions and skill sets revolve around Leadership, People and Aviation. I think a board would benefit from appointing me if they wanted support in any large scale leadership or change management area, people development and cultural change and within the aviation sphere any technical support - I have flown 3 types of fast jets, 4 types of airliners and supervised large scale airline departments, people management and leading large scale change are particular skills of mine. Equally, I am skilled at airline finance and commerical activities. I have also run 2 start up airlines so a start up board could benefit from my experience.
