An accomplished Banking and Finance executive, David possesses extensive 'blue-chip' experience and a track record of industry-wide achievements spanning four continents. His professional journey commenced with Barclays Bank UK, where he initially served as a back office/cashier in branch banking. Over time, he ascended the corporate hierarchy to assume the role of Finance Director – Technology & Reporting at Barclays Africa Limited, earning a place on the Finance Executive Committee.
Currently spearheading Finance Transformation at Al Futtaim Group, David is entrusted with the development of the Finance Strategy and roadmap. This involves aligning these crucial components with the overall strategic objectives of the company. Furthermore, he plays a pivotal role in defining the Finance Operating Model, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and facilitating the realization of the Finance Vision.
David possesses robust financial control and governance skills, with a proven track record of leading and implementing global controls improvement initiatives and finance transformation programs. His expertise extends to financial and business performance reporting, and he brings considerable experience in navigating complex modelling and stress testing scenarios.
As a distinguished professional, David holds the designation of a Chartered Banker and is recognized as a fellow of the London Institute of Banking & Finance. Additionally, he holds membership as an Associate of the Institute of Bankers South Africa and as an Associate Project Management Professional.
